​ We are the Balfour & Houldsworth Golf Challenge Cup Committee and our purpose is to encourage and promote amateur golf within a 25 mile radius of Manchester Town Hall.

Originally the radius was set to 20 miles by our founders Hon A.J. Balfour and Sir William Henry Houldsworth in 1897.
We now organise four top-class competitions for amateur golfers each year, drawn from over 175 golf clubs within the 25-mile radius.

We don't have a home course but select the venues from invitations kindly received from local golf clubs.
Our AGM is usually held at the end of October each year at which we confirm venues for the coming years.  

Our committee are all volunteers from various local golf clubs.
